A Home For History
Boone County's heritage -- the story of its founding,
and the development of education, banking, farming, insurance and medicine -- has a home in Columbia at the Walters Boone
County Museum.
Dedicated in 1990, the museum is reminiscent of a traditional
wood-hewn family farmhouse with weathered boards and broad verandahs.
Within this beautiful 16,000 square-foot space, exhibits
tell the story of the Missouri frontier and of those who were determined stake a claim in what is now called the Boone
County.
